Dubai Marina is a man-made canal city built along a 3.5-kilometre stretch of the Persian Gulf coastline, with Marina Walk, its pedestrian promenade, running roughly 7 kilometres around the water's edge past more than 200 high-rise residential and hotel towers. The marina basin itself is entirely artificial, carved inland from the Gulf and lined with a continuous quay wall, making it one of the largest man-made marinas in the world by berth capacity, with docking for several hundred private yachts and boats.
