Copyright, photo credits and takedown

The text on Traveliac is © Traveliac, all rights reserved. You may read it and use it for your own personal, non-commercial purposes as set out in our terms of use, which also cover quoting and linking. Copying it in bulk or republishing it is not allowed without our written permission.

The photos on Traveliac come from Wikimedia Commons. They belong to their photographers, not to us, and each one is used under its own licence. Most are under Creative Commons licences such as CC BY-SA or CC BY; some are in the public domain; a few use other free licences.

Every photo is credited on the page where it appears, with the photographer's name and the licence, and where we have it, a link to the photo's page on Wikimedia Commons. Our copyright notice above does not cover the photos.

You don't need our permission to reuse a photo, but you must follow that photo's licence. The simplest way is to open the photo's page on Wikimedia Commons, which states the licence and how to credit it. Most licences require you to:

• credit the photographer as the licence asks;
• name the licence and link to it;
• say whether you changed the photo;
• for "share-alike" (BY-SA) licences, release your adapted version under the same licence.

If you see a credit on Traveliac that is wrong or missing, please tell us at editorial@traveliac.com and we will fix it.

If you believe that text or a photo on Traveliac infringes your copyright, for example a photo of yours that is used without the credit its licence requires, email editorial@traveliac.com with "Copyright notice" in the subject line. Please include:

1. your name and how we can contact you;
2. the work you own, with a link to the original or a description of it;
3. the address of each Traveliac page involved, and which text or photo on it;
4. why you believe it infringes, for example that there is no licence or that the licence terms are not being followed;
5. if you are acting for the copyright owner, who they are and that you are authorised to act for them;
6. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, to the best of your knowledge.

We act promptly. We will acknowledge your notice, review it and, if it is valid, remove the material or correct the credit. If we need more information, we will ask you.

If the photo is also on Wikimedia Commons without your permission, report it to Wikimedia Commons too, because removing it from Traveliac does not remove it there.
