تاريخ Dubrovnik Cable Car and Mount Srđ
Dubrovnik Cable Car opened in 1969 and was destroyed during the Yugoslav siege of Dubrovnik in 1991. It was rebuilt with new cars and reopened in 2010. At the summit, Fort Imperial (Tvrđava Imperial) was built by French forces in the early 1810s during Napoleon's occupation of Ragusa; in 1991 it was used by Croatian defenders during the siege, and it now houses a museum of the Croatian Homeland War.
Mount Srđ rises to 412 metres above the Adriatic, and the ridge is a natural lookout over a city whose 1991-92 siege left roofs and walls damaged. The museum and the restored fort make the summit as much a memorial as a viewpoint, and the wartime story is told through photographs, documents and personal objects rather than large exhibits, so allow 30 to 45 minutes if you plan to go in.
القواعد والآداب في Dubrovnik Cable Car and Mount Srđ
Dubrovnik Cable Car accepts euros and cards at the lower station; foreign currency is not accepted. Cars leave when enough passengers have gathered rather than at fixed times, and there is a seasonal wind cut-off, so a ticket bought in the morning may become a hike or taxi ride if service is suspended.
Mount Srđ is a public hillside with marked trails and loose limestone, so wear shoes with grip if walking; the hillside is dry scrub with little shade in summer, so carry water and a hat. The Fort Imperial museum is a war memorial as well as a museum, and staff ask for quiet and respectful dress.

Dubrovnik Cable Car queues are shortest before 10:00 and after 17:00, and the best light for the Old Town view arrives about 45 minutes before sunset; from July to August, that is roughly 19:15 to 20:00. Book a Panorama restaurant table weeks ahead if you want the terrace at sunset, since it fills through peak season.

Mount Srđ can be reached without the cable car by a marked hiking trail from the Old Town, which takes roughly 60 to 90 minutes uphill; many visitors ride up and hike down, buying the EUR 17 one-way ticket. A taxi from the Old Town costs more than the ticket in peak season, so the cable car is usually cheaper. The lower station is about 10 minutes uphill on foot from Ploče Gate.
