À propos de Singapore City
Stamford Raffles' 1822 Jackson Plan divided the settlement into ethnic enclaves that still define the map today: Chinatown south of the river, Kampong Glam and the Malay quarter to the northeast, and Little India further north along Serangoon Road, each retaining its own shophouse architecture, temples, and food culture rather than blending into a single downtown style.
Transport is centred on the MRT, a driverless-in-part metro network whose North-South, East-West, Circle, and Downtown lines intersect at City Hall and Raffles Place, putting nearly every major sight within a short walk of a station exit. Changi Airport connects by the Downtown and East-West lines directly into the city in under an hour, and the compact geography means a visitor can move from colonial civic buildings to a Chinese temple to a Malay mosque in a single afternoon without a car.
Singapore's tropical, equatorial climate means there is no true off-season, only a wetter one: the northeast monsoon from November to January brings the heaviest and most frequent showers, while February to April and July to August are comparatively drier, though short afternoon downpours can occur in any month. Public holidays tied to Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, and Deepavali shift each year and bring temple and street crowds worth planning around rather than avoiding.
