Places to Visit in Singapore
A single city-state on the tip of the Malay Peninsula, dense enough to cross end to end by metro in under an hour and strict enough that jaywalking is an actual fineable offence.
Singapore sits almost on the equator with a uniformly hot, humid tropical climate year-round and frequent short afternoon showers, meaning there is no strong seasonal 'best time' beyond avoiding the wetter November-January monsoon peak. As a compact, densely built city-state, it is unusually easy to navigate without a car via its clean, frequent MRT metro system, and unusually strict in enforcement of public-order laws — littering, jaywalking, chewing gum import, and smoking outside designated areas all carry real fines, not just cultural disapproval. Its population's mix of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian heritage shows up directly in distinct historic districts (Chinatown, Kampong Glam, Little India) each with their own food and religious-site etiquette. Tipping is not customary and is often waived by a mandatory service charge already added to restaurant bills.
