Attukad Waterfalls drops across multiple rock tiers roughly 8 to 9 kilometres from Munnar town on the road toward Pallivasal, with no entry fee charged to view the falls from the roadside platforms. The stream that feeds it runs down from the same high-altitude shola-grassland catchment that surrounds much of Munnar, gathering volume noticeably during and just after the monsoon between June and September before thinning through the dry months of February and March. Tourism development at the site has been minimal and largely informal — a paved viewing platform and a car park were added as the Munnar–Pallivasal road became a more regular tourist route, but there has been no large-scale infrastructure project here comparable to the DTPC-managed boating facilities at Mattupetty or Kundala.
